Love and Obstacles

I was so excited to read this book by a fabulous writer, Aleksandar Hemon. And, as I finished reading it, I realized that I enjoyed it much more than what I had expected. I enjoyed it, not only because Hemon is a Bosnian writer and all the short stories of Love and Obstacles are somehow tied to the memories of Bosnia, but because all those stories are so  charming and painfully human. Some of the stories have actually been published in The New Yorker, and some have been added later on to complete the collection.

Read it, I guarantee you will enjoy each one of the short stories, from Stairways to Heaven  to The Noble Truths of Suffering, all written in a language unique to Aleksandar Hemon only.
